Huntington Station Gang Member Charged With Fatal Shooting: DA

The 27-year-old was arrested on Tuesday for killing a man during an altercation at the local nightclub in March.

LINDENHURST, NY - An alleged gang member from Huntington Station was charged on Tuesday in connection to the fatal shooting at a Lindenhurst nightclub in March, according to Suffolk Police.

Hector Gonzalez, 27, was arrest for the murder of 25-year-old Herminio Torres, of Elizabeth, NJ, police said.

Gonzalez, an alleged member of the Latin Kings street gang, was arraigned in Suffolk County Court on a charge of second degree murder, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney.

He was remanded and is due back in court on May 21.

“The District Attorney’s Office remains committed to eradicating dangerous street gangs from our communities and cracking down on senseless gun violence,” DA Timothy Sini said. “We will do everything in our power to bring this individual, a self-proclaimed Latin Kings gang member, to justice.”

On March 31, two people were shot and three others were stabbed during a fight at 105 Grados on 105 Sunrise Highway, police said.

According to police, the altercation started inside and continued outside the club. During the fight, two men were shot and three men were stabbed.

Torres was transported by the Lindenhurst Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

The second shooting victim, 26, self-transported to an area hospital and was subsequently transported to another hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man was stabbed and transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Two other men who were stabbed, ages 28 and 35, were transported to local hospitals where they were treated and released.

Gonzalez was arrested previously in February along with two Huntington Station men after threatening a store clerk with an illegal loaded handgun, according to a previous Patch article.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
