Here are the top stories today in Huntington:
- Volunteers spend 5 days rescuing wildlife from Huntington sump. A rescue effort headed by John Di Leonardo from Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION) was organized before a South Huntington dump was to be drained. They worked with the school district and Long Island animal rescue groups. The volunteers saved hundreds of fish that have been thrown in by residents over the past 40 years. (Huntington Patch)
- Long Island Restaurant Week: La Tavola, Ruvo West, Verona Ristorante. It's Long Island Restaurant Week and the weather is beautiful. News 12 featured Greenlawn favorite Ruvo as a place to check out, and we can agree. A highlight on their menu is meatballs, and the restaurant offers a cozy feel right off Broadway. (News 12 Bronx)
- Huntington teen seriously injured in dirt bike crash. Christopher Schmidt, 13, of Huntington was riding his dirt bike over a ramp and his rear tire struck Michael Morelle, who was picking up his bike, in the face at approximately 12:45 p.m. The accident occurred at 10th Street Motocross in Ronkonkoma. Schmidt airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. We wish Chris a speedy and full recovery! (http://www.huntingtonNow.com)
