Individual & Corporation Tax Deadline Approaching

A friendly tax reminder that Individual & Corp returns are due in two weeks.

Everyone knows tax day is April 15th but, this year, tax day will actually fall on April 18th. That should give everyone some extra time to stop by their accountant and get their taxes done. But, don't wait till the last minute because many accountants will be too busy to help.

If you aren't ready to file your individual or corporate tax returns, you can request an extension of time to file. But, an extension won't give you more time to pay any taxes you might owe.

Individuals: File a 2016 income tax return (Form
1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) and pay any tax due. If you want to request an
automatic 6-month extension of time to file your return, use Form 4868
(Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual
Income Tax Return) to extend your filing deadline to October 16, 2017.
You can also file an extension online.
Corporations: File a 2016 income tax return (Form
1120) and pay any tax due. To request an automatic 6-month extension of
time to file, use Form 7004 (Application for Automatic Extension of Time
to File Certain Business Income Tax, Information, and Other Returns)
and pay what you estimate you owe on your return. You can file a business extension online.
