Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently visited Walt Whitman High School for the South Huntington School District’s second annual hosting of the Special Olympics. Through the rain, participants from across Long Island competed in athletic competitions in hopes of winning a medal. Lupinacci spoke to kick off the ceremony.

“The Special Olympics is a cause that is close to my heart,” Lupinacci said. “The competitive spirit and teamwork displayed each year by the participants is inspirational and a testament to good physical shape and the benefit of healthy competition,” Lupinacci said. “It is great to be at my alma mater, Walt Whitman High School, to celebrate and cheer on each contestant.

“I would like to applaud Superintendent Bennardo and the South Huntington School District for once again hosting this terrific event. Today’s devoted volunteers highlight the tight-knit South Huntington community and comradery around a great cause,” Lupinacci said.
