LUPINACCI CRITICIZES GOV. FOR HOLDING UP WOMEN'S EQUALITY LEGISLATION

A statement from Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington)

“Earlier this year, the Senate and the Assembly did not hesitate to pass critical legislation that combats gender discrimination and strengthens penalties for sex trafficking. This historic bipartisan effort was a very proud moment for my colleagues and me. Now, I struggle to comprehend the reasons why Gov. Cuomo has dragged his feet to sign these monumental bills into law; ‘working with all stakeholders regarding the best and most appropriate time to sign them,’ sadly demonstrates that the Governor is once again playing politics with women’s rights. I’ve heard from countless men and women who have been eager to see these bills passed into law, and it’s shameful that New Yorkers are now waiting for the Governor’s convenience. If the Governor truly cared about enacting women’s equality legislation, these bills would have been signed into law immediately after passing in both houses.”
