LUPINACCI REMINDS COMMUNITY OF SUMMER SAFETY TIPS
Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci is encouraging the community to be cautious while swimming in the ocean this summer.

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently encouraged the community to take advantage of the outdoor activities Long Island has to offer and reminded residents of some steps they can take to ensure their family’s safety.
“Long Island is home to some beautiful beaches, but we must remember to be safe when we head into the ocean this summer. Before you dip your feet in the sand, remember these safety tips to ensure a fun and safe day at the beach,” said Lupinacci. “Young children and inexperienced swimmers should always wear U.S Coast Guard-approved life jackets in and around the water. It’s important to pay special attention to children and elderly persons when at the beach, even in shallow waters, and stay vigilant of aquatic life.”
Lupinacci also warned residents to be aware of the dangers of the beach, including, diving into the water and rip currents. “Rip currents cause the most rescues to be performed by lifeguards and are responsible for the most deaths on our nation’s beaches. When at the beach, check conditions before entering the water. Make sure you and your loved ones are not diving headfirst, are protecting your necks as well as checking for depth and obstructions before diving.”
