LUPINACCI: REPORT HIGHLIGHTS NEED FOR MIDDLE-CLASS TAX CUTS

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci commented on the latest report which ranked New York State #1 in population loss.

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently gave remarks regarding a new report which reveals a growing trend of New York’s residents leaving New York State to seek a friendlier economic environment. The report shows that since 2013, more than 114,000 taxpayers have moved to other states to avoid New York’s egregiously high tax rates.

“This new report is as troubling as is alarming,” Lupinacci began. “It is obvious that the economic climate throughout New York State is forcing families to pack up and reside elsewhere,” said Lupinacci. “The individuals who are vacating our state are not doing so by choice; they are simply being forced to find another region where they are able to afford the cost of living,” Lupinacci continued.

“The growing trend of individuals and families leaving our state is just more evidence that New York State must simplify its tax code by lowering taxes across the board. Unfortunately, the Assembly Majority and Governor Cuomo continue to support tax-and-spend policies that make it nearly impossible for young professionals, small business owners and families to reside within our borders,” continued Lupinacci.

Lupinacci also discussed pro-growth policies, which enable small businesses to expand and create jobs. Policies of this nature, Lupinacci said, stimulate our local economies and foster strong economies for the future.

“The Governor and I agree that people moving to our state, especially those who immigrate to our state, is great for our economy and our existing diversity. However, in order to keep our state thriving, we must also pass legislation which values the hardworking residents who already reside in New York. Statistics prove that the way to do this is through tax cuts, controlled spending and responsible fiscal policies for the future,” concluded Lupinacci.
