Lupinacci: Small Businesses Build Thriving Economies
The Assemblyman weighs during the National Federation of Independent Business' Small Business Day.

The following is a statement from Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I – South Huntington) -
Small businesses are the backbone of New York State’s economy. On Long Island, we are very fortunate to have lifelong small-business owners who are committed to their customers and have customers committed to them. We are a region that embraces the ‘shop small’ movement and the ‘buy local’ ethos.
The 10th Assembly District is quite literally an economic epicenter for Suffolk County and Long Island. Whether one thinks of a small business hub like Huntington village, which is home to so many shops, restaurants and cultural attractions, or the Route 110 corridor, where thousands of Long Islanders are employed, I am proud to represent an area where the lifeblood of the economy is – and has been for decades – small businesses.

The challenges of owning a business in New York State are no secret. Seemingly endless red tape, regulation and ever-increasing taxes are just three of the many obstacles to growth and job creation. By collaborating with organizations like the Huntington and Melville Chambers of Commerce, I have been able to hear the thoughts of concerned business owners and do my best to reflect them in Albany. I was proud to be named the Melville Chamber’s Business Advocate of the Year for 2015, and I remain committed to supporting policies that will enable local economies like ours to grow and flourish.
An occasion like the National Federation of Independent Business’ Small Business Day underscores the fact that we must do more to remove Albany’s hands from the pockets of small-business owners by unlocking the burdensome shackles of crippling taxes and overzealous regulation.
