Lupinacci Speaks at Long Island Library Resources Council's 50th Anniversary Gala
Lawmaker addressed importance of libraries in a "lifelong education" for patrons

Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently represented Senate Majority Leader John J. Flanagan (R,C,IP-East Northport) at the Long Island Library Resources Council’s 50th Anniversary Gala. During his remarks at the event, Lupinacci discussed the importance of libraries, the 2016-2017 State Budget and the role the New York State Legislature plays in supporting libraries.
“Since my earliest days in government, I have understood the role that libraries play in providing a lifelong education for patrons,” Lupinacci said. “Each library is a sanctuary of academia that plays a pivotal role in the development of our young students into thriving and successful members of society.
“My colleagues in both houses of the Legislature have placed library aid at the top of our list of priorities,” Lupinacci said. “In this year’s budget, we increased library funding $9 million from last year. Whether by aiding students with after-school programs, tutoring and mentorship opportunities, providing adults with an array of affordable enrichment programs, or linking seniors with needed resources and helpful how-to guides on navigating the digital age, libraries are pillars of society that must have our continued steadfast support in Albany.”
