Lupinacci Spends Day at Local 'I Did the Grid' Race

Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently attended the annual ‘I Did the Grid’ race in East Northport. The race/fun run memorializes Cpl. Chris Scherer, a local marine who was killed in Afghanistan. To honor the life of their son, the Scherer family began this awareness run in hope of bringing attention to the care of our area’s veterans.

“The run serves as an opportunity to remember an individual who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and also to focus on our veterans who have returned home and may need additional support from the community,” said Lupinacci. “It is always a somber experience attending events such as ‘I Did the Grid’ but I applaud the Scherer family for overcoming adversity and using it as a way to give back to such an important group: our veterans.”
