TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — Chad A. Lupinacci, Town of Huntington supervisor, asked the public to report observed overcrowding or violations of social distancing recommendations at Town parks as the new coronavirus spreads, the Town announced Monday. The Town has also closed additional facilities, postponed hearings, and resumed HART Bus Fixed Route schedules on Monday.

Recent Parks and Recreation facility closures include Crab Meadow Golf Course, at 220 Waterside Road, Northport; Dix Hills Golf Course, at 575 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills; and all basketball courts. Playgrounds and bathrooms at Town parks and beaches have been closed since Thursday. Parks remain open, but Lupinacci has urged the public to report violations of social distancing on Town property to Public Safety.

"We have posted signs at Town parks to practice social distancing while taking advantage of our open space and our Security Division is out on patrol," Lupinacci said in a news release. "Please report any observed unsafe behavior, such as groups congregating on basketball courts, skate parks and other areas at Town parks directly to Public Safety's 24-Hour Emergency Hotline at 631-351-3234 so that our patrols can respond immediately."
