Lupinacci Weighs In On Critical Budget Issues

In videos, Assemblyman addresses ethics reform; higher education affordability; school funding

In a series of videos released today, Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) outlined his stances on ethics reform, higher education affordability and school funding – three of his top priorities in the 2016 budget debate.

“Ethics reform is a paramount issue,” said Lupinacci. “Stripping pensions from public officials convicted of crimes in relation to their elected offices and instituting term limits for legislative leaders are two changes that could help clean up the Legislature immensely. Members of my conference and I are determined to bring about these changes for our constituents and all New Yorkers. They are justifiably tired of being taken advantage of.”

Lupinacci also wants to ensure the Empire State’s public schools are properly funded, and that cost is not an obstacle for those who wish to pursue higher education.

“Learning is a lifelong journey, and we must create a classroom environment that nurtures a child’s thirst for knowledge from a young age, said Lupinacci. “Ensuring that our children have the necessary resources to succeed is critical, so we must return control to local educational leaders and ensure public schools receive proper funding to support quality teachers, arts programs, after-school help and extracurricular activities.

“Learning shouldn’t have to stop after high school, but for far too many New Yorkers, the dream ends there. My colleagues and I have a plan to give every child who wishes to pursue a college degree the opportunity to do so. More flexible loan options, learn-to-work programs and college scholarships will ease the burden of college tuition,” Lupinacci said.
