Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) recently welcomed the 2016 Senator John J. Marchi Memorial Scholarship for Athletic Achievement recipient, Rose Marie Pedretti, to Albany to be honored by the Italian-American Legislators Conference. Pedretti, a resident of Huntington and a student at Walt Whitman High School, was one of four students selected for the Italian-American Legislators scholarship.

“Throughout my time as an educator, I have worked alongside some outstanding students who have set a high standard for each future scholar to meet and exceed,” Lupinacci said. “It was terrific to have such an exceptional young person like Rose in Albany. Based on her accomplishments thus far, she is destined for incredible successes in the future. It is my pleasure to join my colleagues in recognizing Rose’s extraordinary successes and wish her nothing but luck in each of her future endeavors.”

Pedretti, a senior at Walt Whitman High School, will graduate third in her academic class and is a captain and four year player on the girls varsity basketball team. “Rose is the type of student who comes along once in a professional career,” said Walt Whitman High School Principal, John Murphy. “She will always be remembered, not only for her accomplishments, but for what she contributed to the character of a high school community.”
