Driver Hits Black Lives Matter Protester In Huntington: PD
Anthony Cambareri, 36, of Coram, was charged with assault after crashing into a Black Lives Matter protester Monday evening, police said.

Note: Anthony Cambareri, 36, of Coram, was charged after he drove into one Black Lives Matter protester Monday in Huntington Station; not two, Suffolk police said in an update. Keith Harrison, 56, of Hempstead, was arrested Wednesday after police say he made a false report that he was the second person hit by Cambareri.
HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A Coram man was arrested after Suffolk police said he drove into two people participating in a Black Lives Matter protest in Huntington Station on Monday.
Anthony Cambareri, 36, was driving a Toyota RAV4 west on Broadway when he struck the protesters, who were standing in the road, around 6:45 p.m., police said. Both protesters suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and were brought to a nearby hospital. Cambareri drove off and was apprehended shortly after, police said.

A protester took video after police caught up with Cambareri.
"This man hit one of our protesters with his car," he tells the officer. "With his car."

The protester then turns his attention to the driver.
"You go to jail now," the protester says. "You go to jail now. We die for less s*** than this."
Cambareri was charged with third-degree assault.
Witnesses told Newsday 25 to 30 demonstrators were marching east on Broadway when the crash happened.
"In my head, I thought he’s going to stop, but he didn’t stop at all," Chris McCain, 29, of Freeport, told Newsday. "For this to happen on Long Island is crazy."

Cambareri was not injured and his vehicle was impounded for a safety check. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
In June, a man was arrested after police said he drove his truck at a teenage protester in West Babylon.
