Protester Lied About Being Hit By Car In Huntington Station: PD
A protester at a Black Lives Matter rally claimed he was hit by a driver who was arrested Monday after striking someone else, police say.
HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A man was arrested Wednesday after he falsely reported he was struck by a driver during a protest in Huntington Station earlier this week, Suffolk police said.
Keith Harrison, 56, of Hempstead, was at a Black Lives Matter protest on Broadway on Monday when the driver struck a person around 6:45 p.m., police said. Harrison filed a police report, stating he was also struck, and was brought to Huntington Hospital, police said.
An investigation determined Harrison was not hit, and he was arrested at his home at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Harrison was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident, a class A misdemeanor. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 28.
Police said the driver of the car, Anthony Cambareri, 36, of Coram, drove into one protester on Monday; Harrison was accused of falsely claiming he was also hit. Cambareri was charged with third-degree assault.
