  1. Oyster Bay Town 2023 Hometown Heroes Community Recognition Programs applications available now. The program recognizes the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces — both living and deceased — who are current or former Town of Oyster Bay residents. "My town board colleagues, and I were amazed by the outpouring of support this program has received from residents, businesses and local heroes," said Councilman Steve Labriola. "We are proud to return this important initiative to our communities and look forward to further recognizing our veterans, active-duty service members, and their families for their commitment to defend our freedoms and democracy."(Patch)

Nicholas Spano was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison after posing as a home improvement contractor and scamming an elderly woman out of $200,000 from her retirement and savings funds. “Anyone who would take advantage of a vulnerable victim via a home improvement scam or any other type of scam should be forewarned,” Tierney stated. “We take all consumer crimes seriously at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. We will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law and send you to upstate prison for scams such as this.” (Huntington Patch)
