Mother Drives Drunk With Twin Children In Car: Police

HUNTINGTON, NY — A woman drove drunk and was involved in a crash with her 9-year-old twins in the car Friday evening in Huntington, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

Cassidy Bartasi, 49, of Huntington, was driving a 2018 Acura when she sideswiped another car at the intersection of Park Avenue and Main Street before driving away, police said. Officers found Bartasi in her car at the intersection of Park Avenue and Woodhull Road and arrested her, police said.

No one was injured, and the Acura was impounded. The twin children, a boy and a girl, were given to a family member.

Bartasi was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra's Law), leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
