Once Again, Albany Establishment Ignores Ethics Reform
Lupinacci: Majority refusing to consider solutions that would address corruption crisis
The following is a statement from New York State Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R, C, I - South Huntington) -

On the heels of recommendations from good government groups such as Citizens Union and Reinvent NY which reveal public distrust of Albany, the New York State Assembly is still looking to pass a budget that includes no substantive ethics reforms. Assembly leadership has doubled-down and is now blocking other anti-corruption proposals at the committee level. Solutions to the issue of corruption are presented, only to be dismissed by the Albany establishment for partisan reasons.
More specifically, the Public Officers Accountability Act (A.4617) is legislation that includes member item reform, government oversight provisions, campaign finance reforms, the new crime of failure to report corruption and term limits for leadership. By not giving this bill the opportunity to be voted on by the full assembly, Assembly Leadership has shown a true lack of commitment to cleaning up Albany.
