1. 4 Suffolk Beaches Closed To Bathing Over High Bacteria (patch.com) — Suffolk County health officials have temporarily closed four beaches, including Valley Grove Beach in Eaton's Neck and Huntington Beach Community Association in Centerport, after high bacteria levels were detected. Huntington-area swimmers are urged to stay out of the water until new tests show safer conditions, and people with open wounds or recent surgeries are warned to avoid local saltwater and bay areas for now.
   

2. 2 Arrested, 11 Violations Issued At Huntington Station Nightclub: Police (patch.com) — A late-night multi-agency inspection at The Carousel Night Club in Huntington Station led to the arrests of the manager and a security guard for allegedly working without proper security licenses. Huntington fire marshals and code inspectors also issued 11 building, fire and code violations, putting a spotlight on safety and compliance at this local nightlife spot.
   

3. Deer Park, Huntington schools receive mentorship grants (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Huntington High School is receiving a $30,000 state Bullet Aid grant to expand peer mentoring, part of $60,000 secured by Assemblyman Keith Brown for Huntington and Deer Park. The funding will support student leadership, peer support, and stronger school connections, alongside similar mentoring investments in neighboring Northport-East Northport, Harborfields, Commack, Cold Spring Harbor, and Elwood districts.
   

4. Huntington football looks to go beyond returning to the playoffs (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Huntington High School's Blue Devils are aiming to build on last year's playoff run by pushing for a Suffolk County, and possibly Long Island, championship. Under fifth-year coach Ron Wilson, the team will lean on new offensive leaders and a strong defensive core as they open against Bellport and then host rival Half Hollow Hills East in a key home matchup.
   

5. Back to School: Classes to Resume in Districts Across Huntington (huntingtonnow.com) — Students across Huntington are heading back to school this week, bringing heavier bus traffic and a reminder for drivers to slow down in local neighborhoods. Families are adjusting to higher supply costs, while New York's universal free school meals continue, and several Huntington Station and nearby students celebrate new beginnings at James Madison University and other institutions.
