The shelter, which serves the Huntington community, is seeking local adopters—ideally together—to give this devoted mother-daughter pair a safe, permanent home after their rough start in life.
   

2. 2 New Assistant Principals Join Walt Whitman High School (patch.com) — Families in South Huntington will see two familiar faces in new roles at Walt Whitman High School, as Thomas DeMartinis and Danielle Rodrigues step in as assistant principals for the ninth- and 11th-grade cohorts. Both bring strong ties to the community and existing relationships with students, which district leaders say will help support Huntington-area teens throughout their high school years.
   

3. $1.2K In Clothes Stolen From Huntington Marshalls, Police Say (patch.com) — Huntington residents are being asked to help police identify two women accused of stealing about $1,200 in mostly Nike clothing from the Marshalls on New York Avenue in Huntington Station. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Second Squad detectives are investigating the Aug. 13 grand larceny and are offering a cash reward for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest.
   

4. Fire Island veterinarian boat brings care to pets in need (newsday.com) — A Fire Island veterinarian known as Dr. Teddy now treats pets by boat, sparing vacationers stressful trips back to the mainland. He previously owned a Banfield Pet Hospital in Huntington Station for seven years, bringing local experience to his floating clinic. His Vet Boat service handles exams, follow-ups, and minor issues right at island homes, emphasizing convenience and reduced anxiety for animals.
