Here are the top stories today in Huntington:

1. Mother arrested after leaving 4-year-old child in car Saturday night. The woman left her daughter unattended in the vehicle at 711 E. Jericho Turnpike at around 6:45 p.m. The car was not running, and police were called by a concerned citizen. Maricela Avila, 31, of Huntington Station, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. (Huntington Patch)

3. Man struck and killed in Huntington Station Saturday night. James Beck, 57, of Huntington Station, was walking in the westbound lanes of East Jericho Turnpike when he was hit by a vehicle and then hit by a second vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
