Police Arrest 8 At Sobriety Checkpoint
Police arrested and charged eight drunk drivers in the span of three hours at a sobriety checkpoint.
HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Suffolk County Police, assisted by New York State Police, arrested and charged eight people and seized one vehicle during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Huntington Station, police said.
The checkpoint was conducted on southbound Route 110 at Church Street in Huntington Station from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 2:15 a.m. Saturday. The checkpoint was part the on-going Saturation Saturday enforcement operation, a nationwide Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) initiative targeting impaired driving, police said. Overall, 423 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

- Brian McGee, 52, of East Patchogue
- Christofer Lomp, 25, of Centerport
- Joseph Lavolpe, Sr., 50, of Seaford
- Andrea Fasting, 49, of Oakdale
- William Nieves, 34, of Brentwood
- Danielle Donaldson, 38, of Huntington Station
Kevin Nitzsche, 45, of Ronkonkoma, was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol.
Each person will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Aug. 24.
