Relay For Life Event at Huntington High School Hopes to Be the Best One Yet
The all-night event will include a midnight zumba session, inflatable bouncy houses, food trucks and more.
Huntington High School’s Relay for Life committee is looking to reach its fundraising goal this weekend to help benefit the American Cancer Society.
The event will feature activities and entertainment all night long from Saturday, June 6 to Sunday, June 7.
Relay for Life committee hopes to make this year’s event the best one yet. The group has already raised $117,330.82 out of its $150,000 goal through community fundraisers, car washes, selling jewelry and more.

Everyone in the community is welcome to come to this weekend’s event, which will be filled with entertainment and activities.
“Anyone who comes is appreciated and welcomed by all, and will no doubt have something to do at all times,” said committee member Christiana Reinertsen.

Event entertainment and highlights include:
- Performers throughout the night
- A midnight zumba session
- Sunrise yoga
- Food trucks
- Inflatable bouncy houses
- Hand-made crafts
- Many fundraisers
The opening ceremonies, which kick off at 6 p.m. at Huntington High School, will feature speakers from the town and school. All the cancer survivors in the audience will be recognized.
The track will be illuminated to light up the night during a luminaria ceremony at 9:30 p.m. “This ceremony is one of the most important and moving, and is when the ‘Hope’ in our stands becomes lit for the first time in the event,” Reinertsen said.
The teams will stay in “Tent City” for their 12 hour span and it is full of themed tents.
Event attendees can navigate their way around the area with street signs like “Hope Lane” and “Memory Road.”
Anyone who is not on a team has to leave at 11 p.m.
“We hope to make this year our most successful on yet, and would be so greatful to anyone who comes to join us!” Reinertsen said.
