Police: Woman Stole Money From Collection Boxes at Sayville Church
The woman was seen on surveillance video entering and exiting the church multiple times, police said.

A Bohemia woman was arrested on Monday afternoon for stealing money from collection boxes at a Sayville church last month, according to Suffolk Police.
Church officials began noticing that money had been stolen from collection boxes at St. Lawrence the Martyr on 240 West Main Street at the end of May, police said.
They installed surveillance cameras that captured video of a suspicious woman entering and exiting several times, police said.

Church officials notified police on May 29 that the thefts appeared to have occurred between May 22 and May 28.
On Monday at 4:15 p.m., an officer was at the church following up on the investigation when he saw the woman from the video walking into the church, police said.

Jennie Lecker, 36, was then placed under arrest when she left the church, according to police.
She was charged with four counts of third degree burglary and attempted petty larceny, police said.
She will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 2.
The investigation is ongoing.
