South Huntington School Budget Passes, Board Members Elected

Voters have decided on a proposed 2015-16 budget.

South Huntington residents approved the school district’s $156 million proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 1,339-384, according to the school district.

The budget includes a 2.79 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.71 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.

Edward Nitkewicz (1,074 votes), Linda LaCara (1,137 votes) and Michele DeGaetano (1,193 votes) were elected to the Board of Education.
