TAXPAYERS SHOULD NOT PAY FOR CORRUPT POLS
A statement from Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington).

“Speaker Heastie’s recent comments asserting that Assemblyman Sheldon Silver’s trial is ‘not relevant’ to our state legislature betray a bizarre disconnect from the ongoing public ethics crisis in Albany. If Silver is found guilty, taxpayers will still have to pay for his lavish pension. If he is found innocent on the grounds that he didn’t break the letter of the law, we need better laws. Either outcome should have a profound impact on any legislator who claims to take New York State’s public corruption problem seriously. When we gavel into session on January 6, one of my top priorities will be to help pass the sweeping reforms we need to clean up Albany.”
