The Town of Huntington has taken further steps to move the town's animal shelter to a more modern and centrally-located spot.

The Huntington Town board, at a meeting on Tuesday, hired L. K. McLean Associates of Brookhaven to provide the architectural and engineering services to design the new shelter.

The cost of the contract is not to exceed $567,540, the Town says.

The existing facility on Depot Road in East Northport will be replaced with a new shelter, which will be located on Creek Road in Huntington Village. It will be adjacent to both Mill Dam Park and the Town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The Town says McLean and its sub-consultants, Jackson & Ryan of Houston, TX, and Designed Learned of Norwich, CT, have extensive experience in the design and construction of animal shelters.
