Weekend Street Closings + Delays + West Hills Woman Missing

Here are the top stories in Huntington today:

  1. School officials: Hateful symbols and words found in Northport High School bathroom. A swastika as well as racial and homophobic slurs were found in a Northport High School bathroom Thursday. The Suffolk County Hate Crime unit were called into the school to investigate further. (News 12 Bronx)
  2. Street closings for parades, LI Fall Festival. This weekend Heckscher Park hosts the Long Island Fall Festival. The event brings thousands from all over Long Island, and there are street closings and delays that will impact your weekend travel through Huntington. Other traffic impacts include Huntington High School's Homecoming and the Columbus Day Parade through Main Street. (Huntington Now)
  3. West Hills woman reported missing: police. Evelyn Fiscina, 83, was last seen on Galway Place, located in the hamlet of West Hills, around 2 p.m. Thursday, police said. She has clinical depression and may have early-stage Alzheimer's, police said. Police described Fiscina as white, approximately 5 feet 1 inch tall, 140 pounds with green eyes and gray hair. She was last seen driving a 2017 blue Toyota Camry with New York registration HRF-4297. She may be in the local area or may travel to Maspeth in Queens, please call the police if you see Evelyn.(Huntington Patch)
