2. 2 Firefighters Treated After Blaze At Islip Shipyard: FD (patch.com) — A two-alarm fire at Winter Bros Shipyard in Islip drew a large response from the Islip Fire Department and neighboring departments, but the building was empty and two injured firefighters were treated and released. With hazmat teams and environmental agencies checking for fuel runoff in the canal, officials are still investigating the cause, and multiple nearby Islip-area departments assisted.

Islip goes purple for substance use and mental health awareness (trihamletnews.com) — Islip Town has kicked off its month-long "Islip Goes Purple" campaign to raise awareness about substance use and mental health, with Supervisor Angie Carpenter and local partners urging community involvement. Youth Enrichment Services, South Oaks Hospital, and grassroots groups like The Beading Hearts are sharing resources, personal stories, and prevention strategies to support residents and families throughout September.
   

4. Islip Town Announces Participation in the 'Doggy Parton Challenge' (longisland.com) — Islip Town's Animal Shelter is honoring Dolly Parton with the #DoggyPartonChallenge, encouraging residents to help animals in need in whatever way they can. Locals are invited to adopt, foster, donate money or wishlist items, volunteer, or simply spread the word, with checks made payable to the Town of Islip Animal Shelter.
   

5. New Air Carrier, RetrievAir, Flew Into Long Island MacArthur, Clearing Path For Passengers And Their Pets (patch.com) — Pet owners in Islip can now fly with their animals beside them in the cabin from Long Island Islip MacArthur Airport, thanks to new carrier RetrievAir. The service is already offering nonstop flights to Chicago and the DC area, with Fort Lauderdale trips for people and pets booking for November, expanding convenient options out of Ronkonkoma's hometown airport.
