• LI MacArthur Airport Bussiness District: an economic hub poised for growth (longislandpress.com) — A new economic impact study finds the MacArthur Business District, anchored by Long Island MacArthur Airport in the Town of Islip, supports tens of thousands of jobs and billions in local activity. Officials say coordinated planning, better infrastructure, and stronger branding could spur more housing, businesses, and airport growth, positioning Islip's airport area as a premier regional economic hub. 
• Starbucks closes 17 New York locations. See the list (ithacajournal.com) — A Starbucks at 455 Main St. in Islip has permanently closed as part of a broader shutdown of 17 locations across New York State. The company says it regularly evaluates underperforming stores, and recent closures represent about 1% of its North American coffeehouses, including several in New York City and upstate communities.
• Boat Catches Fire, Drifts Toward Bulkhead In Bay Shore: FD (patch.com) — A drifting, unoccupied boat caught fire near Bay Shore Marina, prompting a fast response from Bay Shore firefighters and multiple marine agencies, including a mutual aid fireboat from the East Islip Fire Department. Crews secured the vessel just feet from the bulkhead and quickly knocked down an engine-compartment fire, clearing the scene in under an hour while officials continue to investigate the cause.
