Two Killed in Small Plane Crash in Town of Enfield (ithaca.com) — Two men died after a small plane that took off from Ithaca Tompkins International Airport crashed Sunday in the Town of Enfield, drawing a major response from Ithaca and county emergency crews. Investigators say the aircraft appeared to suffer a mechanical failure, and federal agencies are now examining what caused the deadly incident affecting the Ithaca-area community.
   

2. OurBus Increases Rides from Cornell to New York City (cornellsun.com) — Bus riders in Ithaca now have more frequent and convenient OurBus trips between Cornell and New York City, with new daily stops on the Commons, West Campus and North Campus. The company cites rising demand and the loss of a key Newark flight, and is also adding regular service between Cornell and Syracuse, including the airport and Destiny USA.
   

3. Cornell science educator dies in plane crash near Ithaca (fingerlakes1.com) — A longtime Cornell-trained astronomer and educator who taught at Cornell, Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland died Sunday when the small amphibious plane he piloted crashed after departing Ithaca Tompkins International Airport. Colleagues remember his contributions to galaxy research, science communication and local community life, from Ask an Astronomer to curling and roller derby, and note he is survived by his wife.
   

4. 'Feels like family': Woodview Daycare marks five years of pl... (tompkinsweekly.com) — Families from Ithaca and nearby towns are sending their youngest children to Woodview Daycare in Newfield, where longtime early childhood educator Maria Lloyd-Jones offers play-based learning, meals, and close-knit care. After losing her school district job during the pandemic, she transformed her home into a licensed daycare that now serves up to 12 kids, including several from Ithaca.
   

5. 3 New York colleges rank among LinkedIn's 50 best for career success (ithacajournal.com) — Cornell University in Ithaca has been ranked No. 8 nationally on LinkedIn's 2026 list of colleges that best set graduates up for career success, joining Columbia and Colgate among New York schools honored. The ranking emphasizes job placement, internships, networking and career progression, underscoring the strength of Cornell's alumni outcomes in technology, finance and consulting fields.
