Bundle Up, Kings Park: Wind Chill Advisory, Scattered Power Outages Sunday
High winds and single-digit temperatures expected overnight, weather officials say.

Bundle up, everyone.
Strong, frigid winds are set to blow through Long Island Sunday into Monday.
The National Weather Service is warning of “life threatening wind chills” overnight through Monday morning.

Nassau County and western Suffolk County will be under a wind chill advisory from 6 p.m. Sunday through 9 a.m. Monday, NWS said.
As temperatures dip overnight to single digits, winds could gust up to 45 mph, making extended exposure dangerous. Anyone who is outdoors for “more than a brief period” could suffer frostbite and even hypothermia, according to NWS.

The advisory goes for pets as well so keep walks short and make sure all animals are indoors.

Additionally, a winter weather advisory is in effect in eastern Suffolk through 4 p.m., said NWS. High winds and up to an inch of snow are possible.
Winds have already caused scattered power outages around the island. As of 1 p.m., 253 Nassau residents and 128 Suffolk residents were without power. A total of 31 active outages were affected 382 people on Long Island.
Oyster Bay, Hempstead, and Smithtown townships reported the most outages overall as of Sunday afternoon.
“Driving high profile vehicles will be difficult,” according to NWS, so higher cars like SUVs should be cautious when crossing bridges and elevated roadways.
Nassau County reported no calculable snowfall but nearby JFK Airport repotted .7 inches of snow.

- Lake Ronkonkoma 1.5 inches
- Baiting Hollow 1.5 inches
- Islip Airport 1.4 inches
- Ronkonkoma 1.5 inches
- Sayville 1.1 inches
- Miller Place: 1.1 inches
- Centerport .5 inches
