Color Walk/Run To Protect The Kings Park Bluff: Event Info
Here's what you need to know for the event meant to be a fundraiser for repair and maintenance on the bluffs.

KINGS PARK, NY — The Commack-Kings Park Rotary Club will be hosting a Family Color Walk/Run to kick off fundraising for its new Protect the Bluffs Initiative, the club announced.
This family-oriented walk/run event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19, (rain date on Sunday). Students and families will check-in between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., and the walk/run will begin at 9:30 a.m. The route will start at W.T. Rogers Middle School and proceed to Kings Park Bluff, and then return back to W.T. Rogers for more family fun (food trucks, music, sponsor giveaways, etc.).
Participants will have the option of only doing half of the route, before returning to the middle school.

If interested, register on the Commack-Kings Park Rotary Club's website no later than Sept. 19. The price to participate is $20 for adults, $10 for anyone 13 and under and $50 for a family of four package ($10 per additional child).
The shoreline bluffs suffered severe erosion following a series of local storms in 2018 that actually forced Town of Smithtown officials to close the boardwalk at the Kings Park Bluff. The walk/run is meant to support Town of Smithtown repair and maintenance efforts along the shoreline to protect the bluffs, which residents visit and enjoy regularly. Specific projects would include supporting those efforts and strategies suggested by the Town’s Department of Environment & Waterways, which have proven effective in slowing erosion.

This event will also serve to bring community awareness to the issue of shoreline erosion and the Commack-Kings Park Rotary’s other local and international initiatives.
Event sponsorships are available for local businesses. Residents are invited to participate in this family-priced community fundraiser with their families and have fun, while working together to help protect our precious shoreline.
