LONG ISLAND HOSTS US JUNIOR OLYMPIC SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The public is invited to watch athletes from around the country compete in the US Synchronized Swimming Championships.

The Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission will welcome over 1,000 athletes from around the country to compete at the U.S. Junior Olympic Synchronized Swimming Championships running June 25 through July 2. The competition, featuring over 80 teams, will be held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
Spectators are invited to witness this spectacular event, and perhaps catch a glimpse of competitors who may qualify to head to the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

“We are honored to host the U.S. Junior Olympic Synchronized Swimming Championships here on Long Island,” said Kristen Jarnagin, President and CEO of the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission. “This prestigious nine-day event not only injects $2 million into our local economy and increases job offerings in the hospitality and sporting industry, but it also brings our community further together - supporting a great cause.”
Daily admission will be $10 for adults and $5 and children under the age of 12 (free admission for children under 2). Daily tickets and an All-Event pass ($35 valid June 25-July 2) can be purchased at the Nassau County Aquatic Center, day of event. “We are very excited to go back to Long Island,” said USA Synchro CEO Myriam Glez. “Last year, Long Island hosted our U.S. Open Championships, and we had a great event. The facilities are fantastic for synchronized swimming and the city has been very supportive.”
Swimmers will vie for medals in solo, duet and team in the 18-19, 16-17, 13-15 and 12 and under age groups. Free combo will be held in the 16-19 and 13-15 divisions.

Built in 1998 for the International Goodwill Games, the Nassau County Aquatic Center is widely recognized as one of the finest swimming facilities in the U.S. It regularly hosts major swimming and diving competitions, as well as local high school events and swim clubs. Dozens of U.S. and world swimming records have been set at the 80,000-square-foot Aquatic Center.
