• Tick problem closes Kings Park middle school fields, cancels practices (greaterlongisland.com) — Fields at William T. Rogers Middle School in Kings Park are closed to students because of a sudden spike in ticks, forcing classes and recess onto the blacktop and canceling some practices. District officials have mowed and chemically treated the grounds, are monitoring conditions closely, and are urging student athletes and families to perform tick checks after activities.
