Southerners Pronounce Long Island Town Names In Cringeworthy Video
"I have never in my life cringed so hard," the Long Island native said.
It looks like people can't get enough of watching Southerns try to pronounce Long Island town names.
Recently, 19-year-old Kings Park native Kaitlyn Carhart posted a video on her Facebook page earlier this week of her friends Haley Glover, Ragan Richardson, 19, and Heleana Toth, 18, all of South Carolina trying to pronounce the names of local towns including Syosset, Patchogue, Massapequa, Rokonkoma, Setauket, Wantagh and more. Carhart, who relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2014 met the girls through her job working at an arcade at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach.

Carhart created the video after she saw a viral video where a girl made her southern friends try to pronounce towns located on Long Island.
"I have never in my life cringed so hard," she wrote on the post. "I thought I threw in a few easy ones but each town name was a struggle for them. Their confidence is what makes me laugh and it will for sure give you a good laugh too."

Cahart's video has already been viewed a total of 116,000 times and has been shared 1,827 times as of Wednesday afternoon.
"I'm beyond ecstatic that people are sharing my video with their friends/family and are getting a good laugh out of it," Carhart told Patch. "It's definitely a new experience to come to such a different place and hear other people (especially southerners) try to pronounce what I thought to be easy town names near my home town!"
Last October Elena Barilla, a Long Islander attending college at the University of South Carolina, posted a video of her Southern friends attempting to say the names of Long Island towns which was shared thousands of times on Twitter.
