Stormy Weather Possible the Next 3 Days on Long Island

Flash flooding a concern; a hazardous weather outlook is in effect for all of Long Island.

If you are a fan of summer thunderstorms, you’re in luck!

The rest of Tuesday will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms followed by patchy fog overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

On Wednesday and Thursday the odds of rain increase and some storms could bring heavy precipitation and flooding concerns to the island. The NWS has issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of Long Island, warning of the potential for flash flooding. Nassau County is under a hazardous weather outlook for both Wednesday and Thursday. In Suffolk, the outlook currently is just for Thursday.

This Afternoon- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight- Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 9 to 14 mph.

Wednesday- A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 86. West wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Wednesday Night- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday- A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday Night- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
