Summer Reading Programs for all ages continue through Friday, August 11; registration is ongoing. Please call the Children’s or Adult Reference Desk of your local Library branch for more information (631) 360-2480.

Children’s Summer Reading Programs-

First Step to Reading (Birth through 35 months)
Read to your baby and build your baby’s early literacy skills. Babies and toddlers from birth through 35 months can participate in this summer program. Stop by the Children’s Department of your local Library branch to register and pick up a packet. Complete 25 activities with your little one during the eight-week program and receive a certificate and a special prize.
Build a Better World (3 years - grade 5)
All readers and pre-readers from age 3 through 5th grade are invited to participate in this year’s Children’s Summer Reading Program, “Build a Better World”. This program began on Monday, June 19 and continues through Friday, August 11. Visit your local Library branch to join. Participants will earn prizes for the books they read and activities completed on a special reading chart.

Young Adult Summer Reading Program-

Build a Better World (Grades 6 -12)
If you are a teen entering grades 6-12, you can register at your local Library branch or online. The more books you read and activities you complete, the more prizes and raffle tickets you will earn. The raffle tickets can be used to win one of the grand prizes. We would like to thank the following businesses and organizations for supporting our Young Adult Summer Reading Program: Air Trampoline Sports, Crazy Crepe Cafe, Dave & Busters, Fanny Cakes, Smithtown Theater for the Performing Arts, Stony Brook University Athletics, Superior Ice Rink, The Crafters’ Table, The Long Island Ducks, The Rinx and Yottabyte.

Adult Summer Reading Program-

Jane Austen 200 (18 years and older)
2017 will mark the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death. In commemoration, the theme of this year’s Adult Summer Reading Program is Jane Austen 200. If you haven’t signed up yet, stop by the Reference Desk your local Library branch and get a Book BINGO card or register online at www.smithlib.org. You’ll get a raffle ticket just for signing up and you’ll earn more chances to win prizes by reading all summer long.
