Wind Advisory Monday, Rain/Snow Threaten Thanksgiving Travel Wednesday
It will feel like spring in Kings Park on Monday, but the warmth won't last long.

Buckle up for a volatile weather week on Long Island.
The high temperature may near 70 on Monday, but rain is likely in the morning. A wind advisory is also in effect for Suffolk County from 4 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday, and for Nassau County from 4 a.m.- 11 a.m. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph Monday will be capable of bringing down trees and power lines, according to the National Weather Service.
The warm weather won’t last long and a coastal storm has the potential to wreak havoc for Thanksgiving travelers on Wednesday.

Here’s the hazardous weather outlook issued by the NWS Sunday afternoon:
“A coastal storm is expected to affect the region Wednesday into Wednesday night...but uncertainty still exists in how close to the region this storm will track. A combination of snow...rain...and wind are likely with this system. Although it is too early to determine exact snow and rain amounts...there is a low probability of 6 or more inches of snow across areas to the north and west of the NYC metro area by the time the storm winds down late Wednesday night.”

Kristina Pydynowski, a senior meteorologist for AccuWeather.com, says “concern is growing that the storm will be strengthening and tracking closer to the coast. This scenario would bring more widespread heavy rain, substantial snow and gusty winds to the New York City area.”
Although the exact track and strength of the storm remains up in the air, for the millions of people traveling on Wednesday, Pydynowski says the earlier, the better when it comes to hitting the road.
“Conditions will only worsen as the day progresses,” she wrote on AccuWeather.com.
Sunny skies are currently in the forecast for Thanksgiving and for Black Friday shoppers, with high temperatures in the low 40s at the end of the week.
