UPDATE: Driver Critically Injured in Crash Into Utility Pole in Lindenhurst

A Brentwood man was critically injured in a crash on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst Saturday night, police said.

According to police, Alexis Flores, 27, was driving a 2000 Chrysler LHS east on Sunrise Highway, just east of Wellwood Avenue in when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a telephone pole.

Photos from the scene, right in front of the Phountain store, show the pole pierced through the front part of the car.

Flores was transported via North Lindenhurst Fire Department ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he is listed in critical condition.

The vehicle was impounded for safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
