Arts Society of Kingston Presents Refraction: Light, Memory,
& Time, a Year-End Members Exhibition Filling All Three
Galleries
Forty-seven ASK artists explore how light, memory, and time intersect in a salon-style
holiday show featuring original art for every collector
KINGSTON, NY: The Arts Society of Kingston (ASK) will close out 2026 with Refraction:
Light, Memory, & Time, an expansive members exhibition on view November 7 through
December 6, 2026, at ASK, 97 Broadway, Kingston, NY. The exhibition will fill all three of
ASK's galleries for the holiday season, bringing together the work of 47 member artists in a
dynamic, salon-style celebration of the ASK community.
As the year draws to a close, Refraction invites viewers to consider the ways light, memory, and
time bend, transform, and reveal. How does memory alter what we see? How does light change a
place, an object, or a moment? What traces of the past remain, and what happens when we look
at them through the lens of the present? The participating artists respond to these questions
literally, metaphorically, and intuitively, resulting in a show as varied as the membership itself.
Visitors will encounter an extraordinary range of media, including painting, drawing and works
on paper, sculpture, sketches, mixed media, textiles and fiber, photography, and other 2D and 3D
work. The salon-style installation places these diverse approaches side by side, offering a rich,
immersive view of the creativity thriving in Kingston's arts community.
Original Art for Holiday Giving
Refraction is designed to be both a celebration of ASK's artists and an opportunity for the
community to bring original art home for the holidays. Many artists are offering smaller, more
accessible works priced at $200 or less, ideal for holiday gift-giving and for first-time collectors,
alongside works at a range of other price points.
"Refraction is ASK’s new way to end the year because it shows just how much talent and range
lives within the ASK membership," said Amy Poux, Executive Director of the Arts Society of
Kingston. "Every artist brought their own way of seeing to this theme, whether it's a fleeting
moment of light, a memory that won't let go, or the way time reshapes a familiar place. With so
many works at accessible prices, we hope visitors will find something that speaks to them and
bring home a piece of original art from a local artist this holiday season."
