3 Vying To Oust Engel From Democratic Ballot
The incumbent congressman was first elected to the House in 1988.

SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER, NY — Three people are trying to knock incumbent Rep. Eliot Engel, D-Bronx, off the ballot in November. There are four names on the Democratic ballot for the primary Tuesday for the 16th Congressional District.
Joyce Briscoe, Bronx
From her website: “The People believe the politicians do not understand their issues. I understand the issues and plan to bring the resources and the information into the community that will address these and many other issues.”
Eliot Engel, 71, Bronx
From his website: Engel was elected to Congress in 1988 and is currently the ranking member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as its Subcommittee on Health and Subcommittee on Energy and Power.

Derickson Lawrence, 61, Mount Vernon

The 16th Congressional District includes the northern Bronx and Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Scarsdale, Eastchester, Bronxville, Tuckahoe, Pelham, Pelham Manor, Rye, Rye City, and parts of Ardsley, Hastings-on-Hudson, and Edgemont.
Polls will be open in Westchester County from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
