Larchmont Library to Receive Construction Grant

Two Sound Shore libraries got the state funds.

Larchmont, NY — Two southern Westchester County libraries will be receiving state grants for construction.

Senator George Latimer, D-Rye, and Assemblyman Steve Otis, D-Rye, announced Tuesday that the Larchmont Public Library and the Rye Free Reading Room will receive grants from a $14 million capital fund appropriation for public library construction in the 2015 state budget, according to information from a spokeswoman.

The Larchmont Public Library was awarded $22,557 to add two fully ADA-compliant bathrooms in the main library building.

The Rye Free Reading Room will get $19,350 to make energy efficiency upgrades to replace florescent lighting with LED lights and install spray foam insulation in the library’s attic.

The state Legislature approved $19 million in the 2016-17 budget for library construction projects that will be announced in the spring.
