Larchmont Teens Reach Semi-Finals in 2017 Battle of the Books

The Larchmont Library's 2017 Battle of the Books teams have success in intense competition!

LARCHMONT, NY - The fourth annual Westchester Library System (WLS) Battle of the Books took place on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose, NY. The Larchmont Public Library proudly sent two teams to this fast-paced trivia competition. A total of nine children and seven teens represented Larchmont at the Battle.

Both Larchmont teams were competitive and made strong showings. The Library’s Teen team – The Larchmont Tigers - made it to the semi-finals and missed playing in the final battle by only two points! But most importantly, the players represented the library well - worked as a team, respected others, and demonstrated good sportsmanship.

The Larchmont Tigers teen team included Rohan S. Gupta, Maria Haralampopoulos, Mila Kinnear, Jarvis Savage, Sophie Thorpe, Zoe Todd and Bella Wasserman. Young Adult Librarian Kim Larsen, coached the Larchmont Tigers teen team. The Larchmont Book Bombardiers children’s team were represented at the Battle by Will Cannaday, Sahil Gupta, Gray Hackett, Ellie Konvisser, Danielle Kravetz, Tricia Latimer, Zach Otto, Tyler Prozes, and Julia Warner with Children’s Librarian coach, Linnea Moosmann.

About Westchester Library System’s Battle of the Books:

The Westchester Library System Battle of the Books is a fast-paced trivia competition for avid readers in Grades 4 – 10. In 2017, a total of 27 teams representing 17 libraries from across Westchester County competed in the event. The event is organized by youth services librarians working with the Westchester Library System, and is underwritten by the H.O.P.E. for Youth Foundation.
