New Greek Restaurant to Open In June In Mamaroneck
New eatery offers traditional Greek food including spanakopita, octopus, and souvlaki along with steak, lamb chops, and Atlantic salmon.
Neméa Greek Taverna—a fine dining restaurant featuring rustic Greek cooking—will be opened in Mamaroneck in June by the KSXC Restaurant Group. Nick Kringas will act as general manager/partner and run the front of the house. His younger brother George Kringas is executive chef and partner.
The restaurant is named after Neméa, a region in the northeastern Peloponnese of Southern Greece famous for its red wine. According to Greek mythology, Hercules slew the Nemean Lion—a beast believed impervious to attack—in the region as well. Kringas' ancestors have farmed on land nearby and harvested grapes for generations.
Two families formed KSXC Restaurant Group; both the Kringas and Skeadas families had worked together previously to start Niko's Greek Taverna in White Plains in 2005. Skeadas family members also own Artie's Steak & Seafood on City Island—a 50-year-old restaurant that they purchased eight years ago. Additionally, the Skeadas family previously owned Mighty Joe Young's in Hartsdale (now closed). Spiro Chagares, managing partner of Artie's Steak & Seafood, is also a partner in KSXC Restaurant Group.

"Nemea’s menu, style and setting will be a departure from traditional Greek restaurants," noted Nick Kringas.
He said that new recipes for traditional Greek specialties will be used for dishes such as T-bone lamb chops, lamb hamburgers, lavraki (branzino), marinated chargrilled steak, spanakopita, octopus and souvlaki.

Nick Kringas also said that about three-quarters of Neméa’s menu will be picked up from or based on dishes on the Niko’s menu. Appetizers include grilled octopus, fried calamari, spinach pie, and imambayildi (baby eggplant and vegetables topped with melted feta cheese). Emphasis will be placed on sustainable food and fresh fish indigenous to the Greek and Mediterranean seas.
The wine list will offer a wide selection of traditional Greek wines and other varietals.
Both Kringas brothers attended Ossining High School and live in Ossining. Nick Kringas went on to graduate from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University where he majored in entrepreneurship and finance. His younger brother George Kringas is a graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan.
George Kringas relied on his art education to design the restaurant’s logo that spells the restaurant’s name in combined English and Greek lettering.
Nick Kringas and wife Stacey have two girls—Sofia, age 3, and nine-month-old Chloe. George Kringas and wife Danielle have been married for eight months.
The Kringas brothers' dad Peter, at one time, owned a tavern in Sleepy Hollow that he bought from an uncle.
