Relay for Life of Mamaroneck/Larchmont

Relay for Life is the signature fundraising movement of the American Cancer Society.

The first Relay for Life of Mamaroneck/Larchmont will be held this Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck, New York. This overnight event will begin at 7:00 pm until 7 am and the community is invited to come by and support our fight against cancer.

Relay for Life is an organized community fundraising walk.  Teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around the track.  The idea behind Relay is that cancer never sleeps and each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track throughout the entire event. This also symbolizes the journey the cancer patient undergoes from diagnosis, through treatment and finally entering remission.

The opening ceremony will begin at 7 pm. There will be food, games, entertainment and crafts for you to enjoy! The event aims to build camaraderie in a family friendly environment.

Yet, the event also offers emotionally powerful ceremonies to honor cancer survivors, dedicate Luminaria candles to those we want to remember and a Spirit of Relay ceremony to recognize all the participants who have worked so hard to make this event a success.  More importantly, to symbolize the emotional commitment each of us can make in the fight against cancer and to ensure there are many more birthdays!
