Speaker Event on Refugee Resettlement

On Thursday, April 14, 7:30 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church in Larchmont will be presenting a special speaker event on Refugee Resettlement. Chris George, Executive Director, IRIS, will explain what refugee resettlement means, how it works, the role that agencies like IRIS play, and how we can help. IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services) is a refugee resettlement agency located in New Haven, CT. Since its inception in 1982, IRIS has welcomed over 5,000 refugees. It anticipates working with 420 refugees in 2016, providing help with housing, employment, healthcare, education, daily English classes, cultural orientation, and legal assistance.
Since 2015, Chris George has been the Executive Director of IRIS. He began his international career in 1977 as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Oman, and has spent most of his professional life living in, or working on, the Middle East.
