Spring District Meeting 2016

The Spring District Meeting for District 3S was held on February 4th at Mamaroneck High School.

On Thursday, February 4th, the Future Business Leaders of America from all over District 3S, met for the Spring District Meeting. The Spring District Meeting was hosted at Mamaroneck High School, where District S-VP Sophia Danziger currently attends. The event, planned by Danziger and her officer team, was similar to the Fall District Meeting hosted a couple of months ago in Mamaroneck. Workshops were held with speakers ranging from how to give a presentation, to planning your own event.

Differently from FDM, SDM began the first level of competition for the upcoming State Leadership Conference in April. Select competitions had a prerequisite round where competitors had to place either first or second to be able to compete at the State Level. This included competitions such as public speaking, impromptu speaking, client services and business interview. Judges with business background came from all around the community to help with the event. Tests were also administered for State Officers, Parliamentary Procedure and Future Business Leaders. For students who are planning to do a written test at SLC, practice tests were offered in the school’s library. SDM also welcomed the newly formed Rye Neck chapter of FBLA.

Everyone came together to eat dinner, catered by nearby Salsa Fresca. After being such a hit at FDM, the Mexican styled catering was brought back, and served food such as tacos, burritos and guacamole. The night closed with the closing session, which featured an award ceremony for those who had competed throughout the afternoon. Ribbons were given to first, second and third place in the practice tests, and trophies were given to first, second and third place in the judged competitions. Congratulations to everyone who placed, and will be moving on to the State Leadership Conference. We are looking forward to seeing everyone this April at SLC in Rochester!
