Town Of Mamaroneck: FEMA Public Assistance For Ida Damage Recovery

As of Monday, September 6th, President Biden approved the request from Governor Kathy Hochul for financial relief for local governments and New Yorkers. Under this request, the Town of Mamaroneck and individual residents may qualify for public assistance from FEMA. Services to eligible residents include funds for housing assistance, crisis counseling, unemployment assistance, home repairs, and legal services. Residents may apply for the disaster aid in the following ways:

1. Visit DisasterAssistance.gov
2. Call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362)
3. Download the FEMA APP on your smartphone.

Here you can find more information about aid for individuals and households. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, or low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses. Small businesses recovering from Ida damage may also qualify for disaster loan assistance from the Small business Administrator. If you have insurance, file a claim with your insurance company before applying to FEMA. FEMA cannot duplicate insurance payments, but may be able to help where homeowners or flood insurance did not. If you have flood insurance, report your loss immediately to your insurance agent or carrier.
