Village of Mamaroneck To Host Annual Clean & Green Day

Volunteers of all ages are invited to show their love for Village of Mamaroneck parks at the Annual Clean & Green Day, Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. All neighborhood groups, troops and teams will be provided with tools, clean-up bags, and gloves. Volunteers can choose their own site or select from a list of neighborhood parks and waterways that would benefit from attention. All volunteers will also be eligible for gift certificates provided by local merchants in support of the effort.

Additional activities at the Annual Clean & Green Day, include a tour of the sewage plant, dockside tours of the schooner SoundWaters with its touch tank with marine life from Long Island Sound, sign ups for a plot at the new Village Community Garden and a composting workshop. Participants are also invited to sign up for an afternoon sail on the SoundWaters.
Refreshments will be provided by local merchants. The drawing for prizes includes gift certificates from Green Life, Northeaster Oyster Co., Stop ‘n Shop and Zenzo Sushi.

“Many of our residents don’t realize that Mamaroneck has 15 parks,” said Sarah Richards, co-organizer of the event and a member of the Village of Mamaroneck Committee for the Environment. “By helping to maintain and protect them we help ensure the sustainability of our community for generations to come.”

10 a.m Meet at the Marine Center, Harbor Island for Clean Up Assignments
1:30 p.m. Tour of the Westchester County Sewage Plant
